Summer Music in the Park – on until September 12th, this free for all ages event takes place Fridays from 11:30am – 2:30pm, and Saturdays and stat holidays from 1:30pm – 4:30pm, weather permitting. Local musicians pump up the volume with everything from jazz to Celtic pop. Catch a free outdoor flick – several parks in the city offer weekly movie screenings, for free. Harbourfront Centre holds their screenings on Thursdays, starting at sundown (between 8:30 and 9:30), Sugar Beach is home to Sail-In Cinema August 20-22, Yonge-Dundas Square hosts City Cinema all summer long with screenings on Tuesdays, and Riverdale Park is home to Movies in the Park every Saturday night in August starting at 8pm.
Enjoy the great outdoors – you don’t have to head to cottage country to enjoy a relaxing day at the beach. Woodbine beach is great for a day of swimming, volleyball or just walking along the shore. Or take the ferry across the water to Centre Island with your bikes for a nice ride on the trails.
Meets some furry friends and take in some history at Riverdale Farm, 7.5 acres of historic farmstead tucked away in the heart of Cabbagetown. Public transit is an affordable way to get around the city – no worrying about parking or having to fill up the gas tank. And try Go Transit on those days when you are heading out of the GTA.
